Coinciding with the Committee's 40th anniversary, BOC vice-president Iram Lewis and assist treasurer Clarence Rolle were among 40 graduates of the college to be recognised in the evening's ceremony.

Afterwards, BOC President Wellington Miller, said: "This just shows that sports has a lot to offer our country.

"We are using the various disciplines as development tools.

"Our sports organisations are not only producing athletes.

"They are producing responsible citizens who are moving the country forward.

"We are especially proud of what Iram Lewis and Clarence Rolle have accomplished, and we believe the best is yet to come."

He added that the awards demonstrated "not only building people's bodies in the Bahamas, but they are also helping to build minds and valuable institutions".

Lewis also was one of seven individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame at the ball.

He is set to lead the Bahamas' team to Nanjing, China in August for the Youth Olympics.

Rolle will help supervise the national team at the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015 as deputy Chef de Mission.
