The Fiji Sports Awards Committee has now closed its nominations process ©Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic CommitteeThe Fiji Sports Awards Committee has now closed nominations for its annual honours ahead of a ceremony next month.

All national sports federations were invited by the body, which includes representatives from the Fiji National Sports Commission, Fiji Sports Council and Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, to submit final nominations by the deadline of today.

About 100 nominations were expected to come in across the 11 award categories, which includes sportsman and sportswoman of the year, young athlete of the year and coach of the year.

There are also awards for the best administrator, technical official, volunteer, photographer, sports team and sports organisation of the year.

Past winners include sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro and powerlifter Seinimili Turner, with the awards celebrating the winners' achievements in the previous year.

Once all the nominations have been received, an independent judging panel selected by the Fiji Sports Awards Committee with select the winners.

The Awards Dinner will be held on February 27 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
