Commission members Jozef Liba and Katerina Nycova, who were also representing the European Olympic Commission (EOC), took part in a three-day visit to the cities.

Former Yugoslavian national team basketball player, Samir Avdic, chief executive of the EYOF 2017 Organising Committee, met with the delegation to present an update on progress and preparations for the event which included the EYOF 2017 masterplan, the Organising Committee structure and the venue development plan.

Liba and Nycova were also given a tour of the proposed venues as well as meeting with officials of the Bosnia-Herzegovina National Olympic Committee and local authorities.

Sarajevo and East Sarajevo are due to host the 2017 EYOF from February 12 to 17.

It is expected to attract more than 1,600 athletes who will be competing in alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country, figure skating, ice hockey, short track speed skating and snowboarding.

This year marks the 30th anniversary since Sarajevo hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1984.

The EYOF is held every two years and provides an opportunity for young athletes aged between 14 and 18 to take part in multi-sport competition.

Last year's winter edition took place in Brasov, Romania, while next year will see Voralberg in Austria and Liechtenstein host the event.

Members of the EYOF 2017 Organising Committee are set to take part in a Coordination Commission and Technical Delegates visit to Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein next month.

The 2015 and 2017 Summer EYOFs will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia and Győr, Hungary, respectively.
