SASCOC is using the conference to entice more sporting events to come to the region ©SASCOCA Sports and Events Tourism Exchange taking place in Durban later this month will be supported by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) for the fourth consecutive year, it has been confirmed. 


The annual conference and exhibition,due to take place at the Durban International Convention Centre from October 28 to 30, will aim to showcase South Africa and neighbouring countries as attractive destinations in which to host international sporting events.

This comes as Durban bids to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games, a race in which only Edmonton in Canada stands in the way of the city becoming the first ever African host of the quadrennial event. 

A number of significant exhibitors such as South African Airways, South African Gymnastics Federation, Prince's Grant, and Pestana Hotels have already confirmed their participation in the Exchange, which should provide an opportunity to showcase the country's hosting potential.

SASCOC will host various sport federations on the SASCOC Pavilion at the Exchange Exhibition, and will also be part of the Conference talking about their priorities in supporting bids for multi-sport events.

"It is of paramount importance that Government, private sector and sporting bodies come together to support the growth on our continent of sporting events.

"We have the infrastructure, we have the know-how and we have the will.

"It is a perfect platform in which we can debate, discuss and plan for future events."
