Despite funds being "limited", Joan Smit, the organisation's secretary general, said the trio deserved the financial recognition.

Boxer Junias Jonas, who won silver in the light welterweight division, received NAD10,000 (£567/$906/€707).

Johanna Benson, who became Namibia's only winner of a Paralympic gold medal at London 2012, was awarded NAD5,000 (£283/$453/€353) for her long jump bronze.

The same amount has also been given to Lahja Ishitile, who won bronze in the T11/12 100 metres at the Games, which were held in Glasgow during July and August,

She was unable to receive her money in person as she is currently busy with school-related work.

The visually impaired sprinter's guide, David Ndeilenga, was awarded NAD2,500 (£141/$226/€177).

NNOC secretary general Smit said: "We are very proud of your achievements.

"And although the NNOC's funds are limited, we thought it would only be fair to reward you for what you have done for your country."

The Glasgow medal haul mirrored Namibia's podium performance four years earlier in Delhi.

It has competed at every Commonwealth Games since Victoria 1994, winning a total of three gold medals over the last two decades.
