ANOC seeks visions and ideas for the future of the Olympic Movement from NOC familyMarch 17 - Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al-Sabah has backed calls by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for contributions to the Olympic Agenda 2020.

The President has sent a letter to each of the 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) urging them to submit their "visions and ideas for the future of the Olympic Movement", which ANOC will consolidate and present to the IOC before the deadline on April 15.

The letters come following IOC President Thomas Bach's message to NOCs calling for them to make a direct contribution to the debate on the future of the Olympic Movement.

It follows a wide-ranging debate at the 126th IOC Session in Sochi, where members discussed a strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement.

The debate is centred around three overarching themes of sustainability, credibility and youth, and is structured into five themes:

· The uniqueness of the Olympic Games

· Athletes: at the heart of the Olympic Movement

· Olympism in action: keep Olympism alive 365 days a year

· The IOC's role: unity in diversity

· IOC structure and organisation

In his letter sent to each of the NOCs, Sheikh Ahmad reinforced Bach's message, while also asking the NOCs to include ANOC in their communications with the IOC, so the Association can collate all their input and deliver it in a single consolidated document to the IOC.

"ANOC and all the NOCs are united behind Olympic Agenda 2020 and fully support President Bach's commitment to making the process as collaborative as possible," said Sheikh Ahmad.

"The IOC Session in Sochi was highly constructive and now it is the NOCs' turn to add to the debate.

"It is critical that all the NOCs - large and small - contribute to guarantee that their interests and those of their athletes are well represented.

"The Olympic Agenda 2020 will shape the future development of the Olympic Movement and so we want to ensure that the collective voice of the NOCs is well heard."
